GREAT HARBOUR, Jost Van Dyke, VI (Posted 9:56 pm) – The 65-year-old Ingrid Hossman, who was involved in an accident with a ferry at Jost Van Dyke on Tuesday July 19, 2011, has been flown to Jacksonville Hospital in Florida for further treatment.

The mishap reportedly occurred around 6:40pm. The woman is said to be a German national.

VINO has been reliably informed that the woman’s left leg has been severely injured and risks amputation.

Furthermore, the ferry boat captain was taken into custody and questioned, VINO understands.

According to eyewitnesses the boat collided with a dinghy that had the woman and other individual onboard. The other passenger in the dinghy was unharmed.

No arrests have yet been made.

      I am sorry for the lady concerned but what saftey mechanisms? This was a lady swimming in the ocean. This was an accident. The ferry was where it was supposed to be. Was she? Lets just stop this blame game now.

    these harbours need a no-swim zone and both capt & crew need to be looking out for people in the water, especially when entering a harbour with yachts and powerboats

    it seems like the evil over the BVI with all the wickeness some of them doing to get in power now move to the sea waters…lord now another person run over by boat!!!!! I wish her family well and hope her two legs can be found!

    The marine department are giving captains licences to people who dont know what the are doing, there are guys with grade 1 licences and have never been past peter island
