TMB Enterprises gets $798,108.74 contract for de Castro Street Sidewalk Improvements
This milestone marks TMB Enterprises’ first contract with the RDA and is led by Jaheel Howe, a proud son of Virgin Islands soil, highlighting the growing capacity of local businesses to help shape the territory’s future.
The signing ceremony took place on Thursday, July 30, 2026.
The project will improve sidewalks
In an article by our news centre on July 26, Junior Minister for Culture and Tourism, Honourable Luce D. Hodge-Smith (R4), stated that “It’s a major project to be completed. It [the sidewalk] is unsafe. It’s unsafe for pedestrians,” Hon Hodge-Smith said, adding that she has received a lot of complaints about persons getting “tripped up” because of the unevenness of the sidewalk.
The Junior Minister stated that the aim of this project is to make sidewalks wheelchair accessible and up to ADA standards, and therefore, both sidewalks on de Castro Street will be widened and made even.
According to a Facebook post by the Virgin Islands Recovery and Development Agency, the project will transform one of Road Town’s most important corridors through the demolition and reconstruction of deteriorated sidewalks, improved drainage, new landscaping, and the creation of a safer, more attractive, and fully accessible pedestrian network.
'Provide safer movement'
The RDA added that once completed, the upgraded streetscape will provide safer movement for residents, visitors, seniors, children, and persons with disabilities, while strengthening the capital's appeal and business profile.
The project is being delivered in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sustainable Development, with funding from the Government of the Virgin Islands as part of the Road Town Development Partnership.
Officials describe the initiative as more than a sidewalk improvement, calling it an investment in accessibility, opportunity and the continued revitalisation of Road Town.

Why not fix what is broken. No water for the rest of the island
Those trees have stood for decades. They are more than part of our landscape—they help stabilize the land and play a vital role in protecting Road Town from erosion, flooding, and ground instability.
Once they're gone, even if replanted they will take years to prove the shade and protection they grant us now.
Every day I look around this place and struggle to see my tax money working to do anything but enhance the wealth of the wealthy.
When we gonna open our eyes and see what’s in front of us.
Isn't that a government project and it's only fair for the ppl to know all this information just like the other contracts being issued to contractors.
