The fee reduction was introduced as part of the BVIPA’s 35th Anniversary celebrations. The fee reduction ran from May 1, 2026 to July 31, 2026, and was implemented to support the Government’s response to the global fuel crisis and the associated rising cost of living. 

The measure provided temporary relief to businesses and consumers by lowering operational costs within the country’s supply chain.

Standard fees back in effect August 1 

The BVIPA will reinstate its standard fee structure effective today, Saturday, August 1, 2026, as follows: Wharfage charges will return from 1% to 2%, and Container handling fees will return from $150 to $300 per TEU (Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit).

BVIPA extends its sincere appreciation to its partners, customers, and stakeholders for their support and collaboration throughout the initiative. 

The BVIPA, in a July 31, 2026, press release, said it is pleased to have played a meaningful role in assisting during a time of increased economic pressures and remains committed to identifying opportunities that support the continued growth and resilience of the Virgin Islands. 

“As the Territory's primary gateway for the movement of goods and passengers, the British Virgin Islands Ports Authority remains dedicated to delivering efficient, reliable, and sustainable port services while supporting the economic development of the Virgin Islands,” the BVIPA added. 

Stakeholders are also encouraged to take note of the reinstated rates and make the necessary arrangements.
