Weather Update: Flash Flood Watch Issued for VI

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The Department for Disaster Management (DDM) has issued a Flash Flood Watch for the VI until 6pm today as it said it it is possible some of the outer rain bands of Tropical Storm Maria can draft south westward and affect the territory as the storm gradually makes it way North West away from the area.

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Climate change is defined by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) as “a change in the state of the climate that can be identified (using statistical tests) by changes in the mean and/or the variability of its properties.” – During the month of September, the Public Information and Education (PIE) sub-committee of the National Disaster Management Council (NDMC) will focus on climate change and its expected impacts to the Territory, a press release from the Government Information Service (GIS) stated.
