Tola & St Thomas to battle in final of 2026 King of the Courts tonight

- Tola edged past Dominican Republic in a thriller

The 2026 King of the Courts Caribbean Championship has boiled down to two teams- Tola and St Thomas- who will play for the championship at Multi-Purpose Sports Complex tonight, Sunday, June 7, 2026.

Tola (Tortola) squeezed into the final with a hard-fought victory against Dominican Republic, 92-91, while St Thomas made light work against St Eustatius, 107-71, on Saturday, June 6, 2026.

Last second drama!

The game between Tola and Dominican Republic was as thrilling as they come, with the game decided at the last second, literally.

Dominican Republic thought they had the victory, at least twice in the last minute of the game. In the first instance Deon J. Edwin kept Tola alive when he made two free throws to give Tola a 1-point lead, 92-91, with 14. 6 seconds remaining in the game.

The visitors then attacked the basket with a drive inside and a layup, but it missed; however, Dominican Republic made the offensive rebound but their second attempt at the basket only found the rim. The third attempt went in and there was much celebration from the Dominican Republic and their fans; however, referee Norval A. Young, waved off the point.

After over 10 minutes of delay, including due to crowd invasion, it was announced that Tola had won, since the shot clock expired when Dominican Republic made their second attempt at the basket.

Edwin scored top for Tola with 33 points, while Eral Penn had 29 points, and Kalu Ezikpe, 12.

So you have to resort to cheating to call yourself a winner? You're playing by FIBA rules and clearly the ball was out of Santo Domingo's hand before the time expired. Sad when you can't take a loss.

Bssed on pictures being circulated the clock ran out before he got the shot off. It's always some controversy with you people. Maybe they will do a rematch like last time and put some money on the line just to please the critics.

So true, clearly showed (2secs.) when the ball went thru the net. Typical Tola, can’t admit they’re not as good as they think.
