ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Piling works for the final two lighting poles for the Lighting System Installation Project at A.O. Shirley Recreation Ground have now been completed, and the foundations for these poles have been successfully cast.

The contract for the project, valued $409,837.67, is being executed by No Limit Construction Services Ltd. The project commenced in March 2026, with foundation works.

According to the Virgin Islands Recovery and Development Agency (RDA) on June 4, 2026, the concrete will now undergo a 28-day curing period to achieve the required strength before installation of the poles can proceed.

During this curing period, excavation works will continue across the facility to facilitate the installation of the remaining underground electrical cables associated with the new lighting system.

The RDA said these works form part of the continued installation of the new lighting system, which will further improve the functionality of the A.O. Shirley Recreation Ground as a multi-use sporting venue supporting track and field, football, rugby, and the wider community.
