BVI horse quartet head to St. Croix for Labour Day races
ROADTOWN, Tortola, VI.- Four of the BVI’S best horses left the territory yesterday to compete in the St Croix Labour Day Races, this weekend, and hopefully bring back some of the money won by the USVI horses at the recent Festival Day Race held at the Ellis Thomas Downs.
On that day, Voice of Faith from St Thomas won the Delta Cup and the $20,000 purse, and Bird Charm finished 3rd. Whilst Voice of Faith is not expected to race in the St Croix Feature Race, Bird Charm will be facing stiff competition from Gallant Ruler and Lost River. East End Tap who finished 2nd in the Premiers Cup at the August Races will also be running in the race. Temo’s Dream, St Croix’s answer to Trevelyan, is also penciled in to run as long as the horse has lost some weight.
All Country, the current holder of the Angel “Scratchie” Malone Memorial Cup, and Gaffalione, who hasn’t raced since July, but won over the mile on debut at the Ellis Thomas Downs, have also travelled to take part in the meet.
