8 p.m. Update – Hurricane Earl to impact VI tonight and Monday

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – At 8 p.m., the center of Hurricane Earl was located near Latitude 17.6 North/Longitude 60.3 West or approximately 271 miles east of the Virgin Islands. It is moving west-northwest near 14 mph, with maximum sustained winds near 85 mph with higher gusts. Hurricane force winds extend outward up to 45 miles from the center and tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 175 miles. The latest minimum central pressure is 972 MB.

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – In addition to flights cancelled today by LIAT due to the expected passage of Hurricane Earl, at 4 p.m., the airline as issued a further advisory, cancelling several flights for Monday.
