ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- VI Fund Manager Lauren Keil announced an increase in funding for the 2026 Impact Challenge, with up to $250,000 in catalytic funding now available for Virgin Islands entrepreneurs developing innovative solutions that protect ocean health while strengthening the local economy.

The announcement was made during the sit-down interview on the Morning Facts live with host, Cindy Rosan. The increased funding reflects growing investment in locally driven businesses that address critical environmental challenges while creating sustainable economic opportunities across the Territory.

“The response so far has been encouraging, but we know there are many more entrepreneurs across the Virgin Islands working on ideas and businesses that fit this opportunity perfectly,” said Lauren Keil, Programme Manager for the VI Purpose Fund. “If you are building solutions around sargassum management, sustainable fisheries, aquaponics, waste reduction, plastic alternatives, or ocean restoration, now is the time to apply.”

BVI entrepreneurs are reminded that the deadline to apply is tomorrow, June 10, 2026 and are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity.

The Impact Challenge is designed for ventures that have moved beyond the concept stage and are already demonstrating early traction, measurable impact, and commercial potential.

Priority areas include:
1. Sargassum-to-value and waste-to-resource solutions
2. Sustainable fisheries and regenerative aquaculture
3. Aquaponics and ocean-linked food sovereignty
4. Plastic alternatives, reuse, recycling and circular economy models
5. Coastal and marine restoration solutions
6. Local manufacturing that reduces import dependence and carbon emissions

Selected ventures will also receive one year of incubation and acceleration support to help transform strong ideas into scalable enterprises with long-term impact. Applicants must be 18 years or older. Non-profits operating under a social enterprise model are also eligible to apply.

Persons can apply today by visiting www.vipurposefund.org
