Richard Jack pitched the Upsetters to a 13-6 win over VG, but it wasn't enough to lift them off the bottom of the standings.

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – The bottom of the table clash between VG Ballaz and Upsetters went the way of the Upsetters, but they still remain rooted to last place in the standings following a defeat to East Invaders.

The weekend’s action began with the Crushers defeating the ESHS Rams 17-2. Kathleen Fahie took the win from the mound in a game that lasted just 3 innings and the Rams outscoring the Crushers in one of them. Gertrude Thomas and Celine Thomas both hit homers for the Crushers, who scored their 17 runs from just 5 hits. Celine ending 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored and 3 RBI. Gertrude was 1 for 1 with 3 runs scored and 2 RBI.

Roy Hill then pitched the Hurricanes to a 5-2 win over the East Invaders, with Allen Smith taking the loss. Only Sheldon John hit with any authority in the match, going 2 for 3, scoring 2 and adding an RBI.

Another VG error led to runs galore in the 2nd innings for the Upsetters.

The VG Ballaz and Upsetters are virtually neck and neck in the race for the wooden spoon and both are almost already out of contention for a playoff berth. None of that mattered, though on Saturday as the two side clashed for face saving pride. Richard Jack came out with the win for the Upsetters by 13 -6. Milcides Jiminez took the loss as the Upsetters raced into a 9-1 lead at the bottom of the 2nd inning. VG actually outscored the Upsetters for the rest of the game,  4 innings, but failed to make up any significant ground.

Kenrick Thomas scored 3 runs and 2 RBI’s for the Upsetters with Sirron Scatliffe adding 3 RBI’s. Erwin Telemaque pitched in relief of Jiminez and also scored 3 runs for the VG side.

A packed Saturday schedule then saw the Crushers return to action in another demolition job. This time the West End Warriers had no answer to Felecia Wattley who was hitless for the entire 3 innings of the match, won  by the Crushers 22-1.

There were home runs for Gertrude Thomas (2), Celine Thomas (3) and Joi Ann Thomas (2). Felecia Wattley added 2 runs and 2 RBI’s. Thomas went 3 for 4 with 3 runs and 3 RBI’s. Celine added 3 runs and 3 RBI’s and Gertrude 3 runs and 3 RBI’s.

The Pythons then held off a spirited charge from the Hawks, holding onto to win 8-5 acter the Hawks had raced into a 5-2 lead. Jelissa Potter took the win and also hit 2 home runs, scored 1 run and added 3 RBI’s. Eleta Parker took the loss, but did record 2 RBI’s.

On Sunday  the East Invaders put the Upsetters back at the foot of the table with a 13-5 victory, pitched by Jaimi Potter. Mahal De Castro homered, finishing with 4 runs and 3 RBI’s. Devon Mercury scored a run and an RBI and Shamoii Dagou scored 2 runs for the Invaders who ended the weekend a ½ game behind the Blue Wings at the top of the standings.

Hats off to VG who kept battling to the end against the Upsetters.

The Blue Wings took over at the top thanks to a 7-5 win over the Hurricanes. Raymond Mercer credited with the win. Alfred Maduro homered for the Wings as did Sheldon John for the Hurricanes.
