ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – The prized thoroughbred of the L&B Stable, Memuneh, has recovered from its injury that has kept it out of competition since the Festival Races on August 2, 2011.

Memuneh had developed a major abscess on his rump and his Veterinarian had related to its owner Violet Hodge that the horse may have been injected with a toxic substance that resulted in the infection.

Mrs. Hodge had told Virgin Islands News Online that the infection was so bad that the Veterinarian squeezed out enough inflammation to fill a bucket and had noted that Memuneh would be “down” for a while.

Michael “Myke” Hodge of the L&B Stable told this news agency yesterday January 31, 2012 that Memuneh’s injury has healed and “will be back on the track soon”.

Memuneh’s performance at the Festival Races on August 2 at Ellis Thomas Downs had raised questions after placing third in the C Class race despite being favoured to win.

The horse was also coming off two successive victories including a win in St. Thomas in July.

Ms. Hodge had previously called on Government to assist with the securing of the stables at Sea Cows Bay.

What desperation, now you are going to have an injured fleabag running in the three -legged pony race. How embarassing.

When we get our state of the art cricket stadium built the only desparation will be the rush for those private box tickets so you can rub shoulders with the likes of Sir Vivian Richards, Sir Garfiels Sobers, Sir Clive Lloyd, Ato Bolden, Imran Khan and Uncle Ralph.
