Malone guilty of burglary and assault

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – A nine member jury returned guilty verdicts for a 54-year-old man, who was charged with burglary and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, in the High Court on Wednesday, February 17, 2011.
Sydney Varlack Malone, will be sentenced tomorrow Friday, February 18, 2011 by Judge Indra Hariprashad Charles. The trial began on Monday.
Mr. Malone landed in trouble after he entered the home of Stephen Rouse, Quick Hill in East End on October 17, 2008. According to the Crown, when Mr. Rouse caught the defendant in his home he ran off but not before throwing rocks at Mr. Rouse.
Mr. Malone was represented by Colin Foster of St. Lucia while the Crown’s team comprised of Crown Counsels Valston Graham and Jude Hanley.
