Junior cycling championship rides off this morning June 12
Two local riders Shaquille Samuel (infront) and Barnaby Nocholds are competing in today's race.
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – The BVI Cycling Federation Junior Championship is currently underway on the Western End of Tortola, where local juniors are competing against juniors from St. Croix.
The race was scheduled to start at 7 a.m. at the West End Police Station, travelling East on the main road, turning at the Pleasant Valley Junction in Palestina where there will be a cone in the road. Riders are returning west to the start finish for one lap or 10.4 miles.
This event is featuring juniors in categories, Under 19 three laps or 31.2, Under 15 two laps or 20.8 miles.
The BVI Cycling Federation juniors are competing against juniors from St. Croix. The two visiting juniors are 15-year old Apolinar Luis Acevedo and 18 year old Mark Defour.
This event is sponsored by RTW and Gatorade, Horizon Yacht Charters and Harneys.
