Leader of the Opposition, Dr D Orlando Smith

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Leader of the Opposition, Dr D Orlando Smith, is flummoxed that after four years the incumbent government is still blaming the woes of the Territory squarely on the shoulders of his party, the National Democratic Party (NDP).

He made this declaration during today’s House of Assembly sitting where the Supplementary Appropriation (2006) Act, 2010 was debated. Dr. Smith’s administration overspent some $44M in 2006.

“Mr. Speaker I find it amazing that this Government is still blaming the woes of the land on the NDP,” said Dr Smith. He added that Government, the Virgin Islands Party (VIP), should instead settle down and run the country.

His remarks came after a slew of criticisms from several VIP members.

However, before Dr Smith could comment further on the issue, Premier Ralph T O’Neal stood up to set the record straight.

“This Government had to bring this (SAP) to the House. It is a normal thing…I am not blaming the Government (NDP)….this is a supplementary of what happened in 2006. All I am doing is bringing the bill to the House and I am not responsible for what any individual would have to say,” the Premier said.

The debate has concluded and the bill has been sent to committee.

Smith you surpirse me again and I want to know for real who is Advising you? You had a budget of $250 million in 2006 when your boss ronnie was the minsiter of Finance. You came to the house with a $44M overspend SAP on the 2006 budget and still you got the balls to tell we not to blame you? If I run my mother little hotel like this it would have gone bankrupt long time!

Shame on the NDP. Always quick to make noise about VIP spending too much but yet they did the same. The pot calling the kettle black. Well Well…….. Knowing how underhanded and fake you all are, I’m sure this was to be remain undercover. This happened since 2006 under the NDP administration. Why is this only comining to the table some 4 years later. Bunch of fake, lying, underhand people.

If the VIP Government had over spent $45 million dallars you would have heard the talk shows jumping high and low for an investigation and talk of Corruption. Now the NDP did it in 2006 and now they are saying not to blame them…what a ting! NDP running from the facts and consequences of their own CORRUPTION while in Government. Maybe that $45 million was for the new shiney rovers dem had for thier 2007 victory that we did not allow to happen. Now new Governor let me see if you are man enough to investigate $45 million dollars SAP from the NDP dating back to 2006 and have some of them enjoy the view from Balsum Ghut.

I’m sure they did everything in their power to keep this very rediculous overspending undercover. NDP I am one that will not be fooled….never, never. I am one that will not give you my vote. if its not the VIP it must be a new group

Finally the VIP start to bring out the ills and bad financial managment of we country when the old NDP (National Dose of P……) were in power. Tell we more Uncle Ralphie. I am not surprise of the NDP administration overspent by that much and they are always up and down blahing about the VIP spending too much. As for that Financial Secretary, he seems like someone who can’t handle his responsibilities and it’s clear that he is not up to his job. What will happen to me lil lil country….

  6. Oh Please says:

The VIP know they are in a deep deep whole so they are trying whatever to pull the NDP down with them. Hon. Andrew already stood up in the house today and told the people all the lies his party has put forth. There is nothing you can do about it again…The VIP has got to goooo!!!

    • wifeee says:

It was the NDP that needed to clear a SAP of $44 million dollars from 2006 so how is that trying to bring down the NDP? Trust me the VIP aint going any where at least not with them dead mules ayo bringing, Mark, Myron, Archeir, Deloris, Hurburt, Alvera, must I go on?

  7. big mouth says:
