Crushers and Invaders take early leads in play offs!

Crushers, Kathleen Fahie, gave her team an early lead in the best of 3 ply off series against the Hawks.

The Playoffs in the 2011 Irvine Fletcher Scatliffe Softball League, sponsored by LIME, began Saturday June 25 with Kathleen Fahie pitching the Crushers to a 17-9 win over the Hawks.

The Crushers had 17 runs, 10 hits, 2 errors and left 6 runners on base. The Hawks had 9 runs, 8 hits, 6 errors and left 7 runners on base. The winning pitcher was Kathleen Fahie and the loser was Eleta Parker. Miranda Marie of Crushers was 2-3 with a home run, 4 runs scored and 3 runs batted in and Gertrude Thomas was 2-4 with a home run, 3 runs scored and 4 runs batted in. Eleta Parker of Hawks was 2-3 with a double, a run scored and 3 runs batted in. The crushers now hold a 1-0 lead in the best of three series.

In the men’s, the East Invaders defeated Hurricanes 3-2 in 8 innings. The Invaders had 3 runs, 3 hits, 3 errors and left 5 runners on base. The Hurricanes had 2 runs, 6 hits, 4 errors and left 8 runners on base. The winning pitcher was Allen Smith and the loser was Neville Smith.

Nateshon Thomas of Invaders was 2-4 with a double, a run scored and a run batted in. Sylvester Johnson of Hurricanes was 1-3 with a double, a run scored and a run batted in. Invaders now hold a 1-0 lead in the best of 5 series.

The regular season ended on Friday with the West End Warriors defeating the Lady Braves 19-12. The Warriors had 19 runs, 8 hits, 4 errors and left 9 runners on base. The Lady Braves had 12 runs, 13 hits, 12 errors and left 8 runners on base.

Sarah Potter pitched a complete game for the victory and Athena Maduro also pitched a complete game in a losing cause. Melanie Stoutt of Warriors was 3-3 with 3 runs scored and 3 runs batted in. Carlene Scatliffe of Lady Braves was 3-4 with 2 runs scored and 2 runs batted in.

The Reds won by a forfeiture over the East Invaders who did not field a team at game time.
