ROAD TOWN, Tortola VI – After returning to its roots this year and hosting the first ever Car and Boat Show at Nanny Cay on Tortola, Capital Productions, the prestigious group known throughout the Virgin Islands for its charity donations, did it yet again last week.

On Friday October 1, 2010, the group donated a portion of the proceeds from the 2010 Car and Boat Show & Beach Party, to the Althea Scatliffe and Enid Scatliffe Schools.

“It always brings us great pleasure and joy to continue in our humble efforts of giving back to worthy causes,” said Capital Production’s newly elected Chairman, Julien N. Johnson.

“Whether by contributing financially to the schools or through spending time with the children at the Rainbow Children’s Home or promoting young talent at the Annual Car Show and Exhibition, we truly enjoy being able to give back,” Johnson said.

Over the past 11 years, the group has donated well over $20,000 directly to schools in the Territory. This gesture is based on the group’s firm belief that we all have a role to play in ensuring that the next generation of lawyers, doctors, school teachers, mechanics, plummers, carpenters, engineers, taxi professionals, artistes, permanent secretaries, business leaders and nurses are given every opportunity to succeed.

Some four teachers were on hand at the handing over of the cheque at the Enid Scatliffe Pre-Primary School.  Teachers included Brenda Cline, Genevieve McMaster, Tahlia Fredericks and Shirley Martin.

In accepting the generous contribution on behalf of her school, teacher Martin said, “We are truly grateful for the support shown to us by Capital Productions over the many years”.

Tamika George, a teacher at the Althea Scatliffe Primary School, was on hand to accept the cheque on behalf of her school and also thanked Capital Productions for their usual contribution to her school.

Chairman of Capital Productions Johnson announced that the group will be making other charity donations before year end.  He also said that the group will return next year to Nanny Cay for the August festival Car and Boat Show & Beach Party.

Every year, for the past 11 years, Capital Productions has donated proceeds from the annual car show to local charities. To date, the group has donated some $90,000 to worthy causes around the Virgin Islands.

Other Capital Productions members on hand for the donation were new secretary David A. Abendego, and public relations officer Julian Willock. Ingrid Moses-Scatliffe, the new Vice Chairperson of the group and Treasurer David D. Archer, were not available for the presentations.
