VI champion, Trevelyan
Road Town, Tortola VI – The inter Virgin Islands’ horse racing fans, clubs, associations, owners, sport reporters and enthusiast, are all anticipating the biggest race card in recent Virgin Islands history.
The Virgin Islands champion horse Trevelyan who has ran five races and won five races in a row both at the Tortola’s Ellis Thomas Downs and one big win in St. Thomas at the Clinton E. Phipps racetrack, is expected to be matched up against St. Croix’s big horse El Real Madrid. The horse imported from the Mainland USA broke the six furlongs track record in a time of 1:09.4 early this month at the Randall ‘Doc’ James racetrack on St. Croix.
The two biggest horses are expected to meet up on St. Thomas at the Clinton E. Phipps racetrack on Sunday, October 31, 2010. There has not been so much excitement and anticipation for a race day since the retirement of the Virgin Islands’ wonder horse and proven champion in all of the Virgin Islands, Actspectation owned by Bob and Letty Hodge of Tortola.
This expected big race day clash and buzz will also mean a big pay day for St. Thomas, as boat loads of Virgin Islands fans are expected to pack the Clinton E. Phipps racetrack on St. Thomas for this race day of the century.
VINO spoke to an official from the Fish Bay Stables the owners of Trevelyan who said Trevelyan is always “ready for any race and can take on any one on any track”. El Real Madrid fans on St. Croix claim that if Trevelyan shows up on the 31 October “the race is on”. After making his Virgin Islands debut September 26, 2010 in dominating fashion, El Real Madrid ran three races in August in eight days and where he won two and came second in another.

Everyone awaits official word and confirmation of this race. However, one thing is for sure that it will be one for the history books, as both horses are now the best inter Virgin Islands horses. Trevelyan however remains the horse to beat, and is the favorite to win the big, exciting mach-up between these two wonder race horses.
