BVI's Iyaz

Plans for the BVI Music Festival in Cane Garden (May 28-30,2010) are well underway and the excitement to see the BVI’s mega star Iyaz perform on Saturday is one of the biggest attractions.

This year, superstars Fantasia, Nina Sky along with Reggae legend Co Co Tea will add to the highly anticipated event. WCK with their calypso and soca tunes will make the crowd dance all night while the Spinners will bring lovers closer with their melodies. Gyptian’s hottest reggae tune “Hold You”  will surely be a crowd pleaser while IMO will lead a mantra of music by BVI artists,  promised to be spectacular.

This year, music, friends, food and the celebration of 10 years of Music Festival in Cane Garden Bay will be held in the new “Music Festival Village  on the Beach” – located a few yards west of the previous location between Myetts and the bound of the Ivan Dawson Primary School.

This two hundred thousand (200,000) square feet village is huge and accommodates twice as many persons in the concert area than the previous location while still allowing the  sand of the ocean to be at the feet of concert goers.

Security
The “Music Festival Village  on the Beach” will allow for enhanced security with metal detectors at entry points.

Emergency Access
At the  “Music Festival Village  on the Beach” Medical and Emergency Personnel will have better access to a defined  festival area allowing quicker responses and the ability to have a central station.

Controlled Access
The “Music Festival Village  on the Beach” will allow for the accurate accounting of paying festival guests. The festival continues to see the challenge of persons not wanting to pay to see the three day event even at a price of 20 dollars.

Vendor Access
The “Music Festival Village  on the Beach” will allow persons to access over 20 BVI  vendors in one location selling food, drinks, t- shirts and other trinkets.

The new “Music Festival Village  on the Beach” was created for these mentioned reasons and the Committee totally dismisses any rumours that the village was created because of any disagreement with the owner of the previous location.  Additionally the previous owner of the music festival location Mrs Rhymer has been super and cooperated with the Committee with any asking. She is to be commended for her  cooperation and hard work  for the past  10 years.

Persons are invited to visit the two hundred thousand (200,000) square feet village located a few yards west of the previous location between Myetts and the bound of the Ivan Dawson Primary School.

The Music Festival in Cane Garden Bay will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday, May 28-30, 2010.   It is highly anticipated and sure to be excellent entertainment.

The above report is provided by the BVI Music Festival Committee.

According to David Archer, Public Relations Officer for the Music Festival Committee, after a meeting on Wednesday, April 28 at the Cane Garden Bay Community Centre, these changes were largely supported by members of the community.
