The National Democratic Party (NDP) candidate at the time, Hon Lorna G. Smith OBE, then crossed the floor to join the VIP, giving them the one-member majority to form the Government led by Premier and Minister of Finance Dr the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley (R7).
