VALLEY, Virgin Gorda, VI- The 2025 edition of the Virgin Gorda Easter Monday Parade appeared to be the changing of the guards, as it was more of a youthful parade on April 21, 2025.

The small procession, marshalled by Easter Festival Honouree Mr Berton Creque and included the various queens, princes and princesses, made its way from the Bregado Flax Educational Centre sometime after 2:00 PM, braving the sun, to Berton Creque Festival Village.

Spectators along the way were particularly entertained by choreographed dances by the youthful Virgin Islands Priders, ESHS Rhythmic Rams, BVI Dance School's Senior and Junior Teams, and VISTS.

Other entries included Little Lix Bay Revelers, De Lytes Festival Troupe, and the breathtaking moko jumbies.

Also in the parade was a float dedicated to Ninth District Representative Honourable Vincent O Wheatley, who was mostly seen mingling with spectators along the way.

VIP-sponsored float

The VIP-sponsored float included Premier and Minister of Finance Dr the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley (R7), Minister for Communications and Works Honourable Kye M. Rymer (R5), Junior Minister for Culture and Tourism Hon Luce D. Hodge-Smith (R4) and First District Representative Honourable Karl Dawson.

The elected representatives, along with members of the VIP, were seen handing out water, beverages and confectioneries.

Junior Minister for Financial Services and Economic Development Honourable Lorna G. Smith, OBE, along with her husband, former Premier D. Orlando Smith, OBE, also made the journey to the sister island for the parade but was not a part of the VIP-sponsored float.

Also spotted at the parade, in a spectator capacity, was Opposition Leader Hon Myron V. Walwyn (R6).

Following the parade, it was time for stage show entertainment, which started with live bands.

I have been observing for a long time the way that some children are being allowed to walk the streets day and night. It is frightening at times to look at --- and to listen to some of these children. Our homes should become a place of teaching and learning. There is nothing that can have the lasting impact --- of passing on the truths we have learned and believed to our children. God's plan is that we will live and teach our families in such a way that they will see His truth and want to follow it themselves. Our lives should inspire those who know us best to want to love and serve God and to know that He is real. If our lives in private do not match what we say in public --- they will notice. If our faith is real and active in the home --- they will notice that as well. The opportunity we have to influence the coming generations must not be missed. AS IT IS WRITTEN “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it”
