    VIP has always been the party for the grassroots people and that's why the UK Officials and the status quo will never want them in power from then to now.

    The iconic Hon H.L Stoutt had great vision and got the BVI off to a great/superb growth and development start, but next generations of VI leaders fumbled the passing of the baton. Baton fumbled, VI leaders have been trying to recover but have stumbled. Are VI leaders an oxymoronic and symbolic by leadership definition? A leader is head of group, leads the group towards a new direction and after having critically analyzed the social, economic, cultural and political condition of the group, develop a plan with strategies to take the group to a better place. What is the codified territorial national development plan? What is the destination? What is the territorial-centered measurable goal? Is the sustainability development plan the national development plan? Were all stakeholders actively engaged in the plan? Is a manifesto being released hours before a general election a plan or just an illusion, make believe or a mirage? Are manifestos still relevant in the 21st Century? Are they worth the cheap paper they are written or printed on?

    Moreover, giving the leadership definition, ie, plan of action, destination, measurable goals, etc, are VI leaders prepared and ready to pick up the dropped baton and carry on H.L. Stoutt vision? Who is ready to pick up and carry on from where the iconic and visionary Stoutt left off? Why has H. L. Stoutt not been knighted? Is post-humous knighthood a reality? Rest easy ole boy!!!

      So if I hear you right a true leader should analyzed the social, political, cultural and economic conditions in the territory and then develop a plan of action, a destination, measurable goal. “If you don’t know where you are going any road would get you there.” Lewis Carroll-Alice in Wonderland. Where is the BVI headed and how will it get there and what are the measurable steps to monitor if it is track. Yes, an election was held, government formed through political social Darwinism but do we know where we are going and how we will get there?? We still have the colonialism construct to deal with. We need bold, strong and actionable leaders, not performers. Getting things matter. The results of the last election showed this, for status, time in office, etc matters yet does not matter if you can’t get things done. People need to be work horses, not show horses. Another thing people have to ditch collective responsibility when required to do the right thing for the people.

      Talking about HL vision is not enough. We have to build on his vision and if not stop invoking his name. The past is prologue. The future is a function of the present and the past.

      He was offered Knighthood (title of Sir) but turned it down while alive. So post-humous Knighthood would not honor his original decision while alive.

        @Humming Bird, this is interesting. Can you expound more on his refusal from the Queen. Here is my understanding.
        a. Honors Committee who makes recommendations and forward to Prime Minister;
        b. PM forwards recommendation the Monarch who at the time would have been QEII;
        c. Monarch awards the award.

        So did Hon Stoutt decline the award from QEII? Jjust asking.

          My firm understanding and knowledge is that he declined from former QEII. The post-humous route was tried already until certain parties pushing for it learned of his decision while alive. I cannot and will not expound on the reason(s) as that is personal on his part but I am indeed aware!

    Oh what good political leadership we had back then and most memorable is that college for the people then the Administration Complex

    modern day political leadership have not done very much for the people, just look at the public roads and in 2023 street water continues to an issue and do not overlook that health hazard at pockwood pond

    they take money that could contributes towards correcting the infrastructure concerns of the people and travel here and there and pose for photos

    What is the vision of the BVIs? HLS was found of quoting the biblical passage about where there is no vision, the people will perish. So, where is the Territory going? What is it’s future? If we can’t answer those questions, why are we not focusing more one education so our progeny might come with an answer. What do we want to be? How do we want to be seen?
