USVI felon found with firearm sentenced to 50 months in prison

FREDERIKSTED, St Croix, USVI — Chief District Court Judge Wilma A. Lewis on Tuesday July 12, 2016 sentenced Misael Melendez, aka ‘Salao’, 50, to 50 months’ imprisonment and three years of supervised release for being a felon in possession of a firearm, United States Attorney Ronald W. Sharpe announced.
‘Masa’ remanded to prison for alleged gun & ammo possession

CHARLOTTE AMALIE, St Thomas, USVI - A man identified by his next of kin as 38-year-old Evan Ezekiel Joseph of Altona, succumbed to his injuries after an encounter with United States Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD) officers on St Thomas, USVI, according to a press release issued late Saturday March 5, 2016 by Sakeeka Freeman, the force’s media specialist.

Two arrested in firearm seizure

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Police officially charged Antonio Stoutt, 25, of Horse Path and Edwin Ortiz, 23, of Great Mountain for carrying an unlicensed firearm. Both appeared in Magistrate’s Court and were each given $65,000 bail with $5,000 to be presented in cash.
