‘Masa’ remanded to prison for alleged gun & ammo possession
Masa, who has become a popular figure on social media locally, pleaded not guilty to the charges of keeping an unlicensed Glock 40 calibre pistol and unlawful possession of explosives. Some fifteen (15) rounds of ammunition were allegedly found in the vicinity of the accused home about two months ago.
The local entertainment promoter and website manager was taken into police custody after forensic tests were conducted on the weapon and finger prints lifted allegedly matched that of the accused.
Changes version of story
When initially arrested, Masa had allegedly denied any knowledge of the items but later changed his story to say that he did discover the illegal items in a walkway in an area close to his home.
In his defense, its alleged that he told investigators that after examining the items, he put them back where he found them and failed to file a report to the police due to fear that the ‘true’ owner/s would have gone after him.
However, after listening to the facts in the matter, Ms Richards found that the accused man had admitted to having direct contact with the items and noted that he is likely to face five years in prison and a fine of $50,000 should he be found guilty as charged at the end of the trial.
Tip off
Presenting the facts on behalf of the Crown, prosecutor O'Neil Simpson told the court that on the day in question police officers, acting on a tip off, went to an area in Purcell Estate and conducted a search and found the items in a silver box.
The box was transported to the Road Town Police Station where it was opened and a black 9mm Glock 40 hand gun and a loaded magazine of ammunition were found.
Further, the investigative body removed samples and sent it to be tested for DNA revelation. Consequent of the DNA results, the lawmen, armed with a warrant, went the residence of the accused; however, he was not at home at the time. Police conducted a search of the home which yielded nothing illegal.
However, sometime after 7:00 P.M. that night, Masa turned himself into the Road Town Police Station and, during an interview, allegedly told the cops that he had no knowledge of the items. However, in a second interview, he allegedly changed his story when he admitted to having come into contact with the items at some point in 2015.
During the cautioned interview, the court heard that the accused told the police that it was one day as he was parking a motor scooter that he noticed the box and in checking it out a gun fell out. He then proceeded to put the gun back into the box and placed it back where he discovered it.
It was at that stage that he told police that he had fears of the actual owner/s of the items coming after him and which caused him not to report the incident to the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force.
Masa is being represented by Attorney-At-Law Mrs Valerie Stephens-Gordon and is scheduled to return to court for the commencement of trial on September 8, 2016. It is anticipated that the trial will run for some six (6) days.

Just a heads up all those followers you go don't truly care for you. The people who care for you are the people who try to reach you and leave comments like this one asking you to slow down and change up the vibes. You had to see a day like this coming, you just had too. What you invested in is what will pay you in return. Your long and reckless and maybe just maybe 5 years can change you. You have a gift and potentials but don't know how to use it... But with gods grace you'll find it before it's too late.
