ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - The Territory’s Parliament known as the House of Assembly (HoA) met today Tuesday, May 29, 2018, in an informal session at the request of Leader of Government business Premier and Minister of Finance Dr the Honourable D. Orlando Smith (AL).

Residents tired of empty promises for consumer protection bill

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - “We are at the point where it is in the Attorney General’s hands now, where the AG has to bring forward swiftly consumer legislation that not just protects the consumers of this territory but also works to protect the business sector from unfair accusations. We’ll now have a process and a mechanism to actually manage the consumer affairs of the territory.”

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - During the Fourth Sitting of the Third Session of the Third House of Assembly (HoA) on Friday April 27, 2018, Honourable Marlon A. Penn (R8), Junior Minister for Trade and Investment Promotion, told the members of the House that it is “unacceptable” that workers are still not paid for services rendered following the hurricanes of September 2017.

Import duty exemption post hurricanes was abused- Hon Fraser

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Honourable Julian Fraser RA, Opposition Member and Third District Representative, during the Fourth Sitting of the Third Session of the Third House of Assembly (HoA) on Friday April 27, 2018, expressed that the exemption import duty system which the government of the day implemented was abused by some persons while the individuals that desperately needed the system did not benefit.
