‘Track surface needs overhaul; No vet @ races' – Karen B. Smith-Aaron

SEA COWS BAY, Tortola, VI – Outgoing President of the Virgin Islands Horse Owners’ Association Karen B. Smith-Aaron said while she cannot determine what led to the fatal fall of championship horse Doughmaker on Sunday December 27, 2015, she acknowledged that the track surface at Ellis Thomas Downs is in need of an overhaul and said that for 2016 the plan is to have a veterinarian on standby at races.

'Letty' threatens to quit horse racing; claims persons rejoiced @ Doughmaker's demise

SEA COWS BAY, Tortola, VI – Horse owner Violet ‘Letty’ Delville-Hodge is extremely upset that her championship horse, Doughmaker, had to be put to sleep yesterday December 27, 2015 during the Boxing Day races following injury on the track due to what she alleges to be lack of care for the track at Ellis Thomas Downs by the BVI Horse Owners' Association.

SEA COWS BAY, Tortola, VI- In an election on December 15, 2015 at Ellis Thomas Downs that saw a small turn out of horse owners and the absence of some members who were nominated and reelected, veteran horse owner, businesswomen, and local heroine, Mrs Patsy C. Lake, was elected President of the VI Horse Owners’ Association to serve for the 2016 term.
