USVI: Man found dead after shooting at Croixville Apartments

FREDERIKSTED, St. Croix, USVI- The V.I. Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting at Croixville Apartments that claimed the life of 34-year-old Anthony Hazelwood and brought the territory’s homicide count for 2026 to 25.

According to VIPD Director of Communications Glen Dratte, the St. Croix 911 Emergency Call Center received multiple calls on July 2, at approximately 2:15 p.m. reporting a male gunshot victim at Croixville Apartments.

All emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene. Emergency Medical Technicians confirmed that the male victim was deceased.

An active investigation ongoing 

The victim has since been identified as 34-year-old Anthony Hazelwood.

The shooting brings the territory’s homicide count for 2026 to 25, with 13 recorded on St. Croix and 12 on St. Thomas.

The case remains an active investigation. VIPD is urging anyone with information about the shooting to call 911, the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-778-2211, or Crime Stoppers VI at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
