USVI: Prosecutors seek over 12 years for Calvert White in federal corruption case

CHARLOTTE AMALIE, St. Thomas, USVI- On Friday, prosecutors and Calvert White's defense counsel filed their suggestions ahead of the January 22 sentencing hearing for the former Department of Sports, Parks and Recreation Commissioner convicted last year on fraud and bribery charges. Prosecutors have recommended a sentence of 151 months for Mr. White, a timeframe they declare is “at the low end of the applicable guideline range” for his offenses.
USVI: Judge allows loan for Silver/Seaborne as airline battle Chap 11

FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida, USA- The judge overseeing the Silver Airways/Seaborne Virgin Islands Chapter 11 bankruptcy case has given permission for the airlines to obtain a new loan of up to $5.5 million. However, in order to obtain the financing, they must auction off “substantially all of their assets” no later than May 29.
