EAST END, Tortola, VI- Police have charged one male in relation to the recently seized Semi-automatic pistol in East End.

Keshawn Baronville, 30, of Fort Hill, was charged with Carrying a Firearm Without a Licence and three counts of Possession of Explosives.

He appeared at the Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, September 7, 2023, and was remanded to His Majesty’s Prison.

More assistance needed from public- Police

Acting Commissioner of Police, St Clair Amory in a press release today, September 8, 2023, stated that he is grateful for the support provided by the public and the officers who continue to do their part in bringing these offenders to justice.

He, however, reiterated that more assistance is needed from the public to minimise the threat of gun violence in our communities.

"If you see something, say something. Every life is valuable, but it will take our combined effort to apply our individual willingness to achieve the change needed to tackle these illicit activities.”

Semi-automatic pistol recovered by police; One arrested- RVIPF

A spontaneous operation by Police in the East End area of Tortola earlier today, September 6, 2023, resulted in a firearm being recovered. 

One Semi-Automatic Pistol and a significant amount of ammunition were recovered during the operation, the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) stated in a press release today, September 6, 2023.

It said one suspect has been arrested and taken into custody.

"The investigation is still active; therefore, no further information can be provided at this time," the RVIPF stated.

2nd firearm recovered this week

This is the second firearm recovered since the start of this week.

On Sunday, September 3, the RVIPF recovered an AK-47 assault rifle and a significant amount of ammunition.

One suspect, Keron Hodge, was also arrested and has been charged in connection with that recovery.

    Now this is how it should be all of the time. Police, don't get slack again because it is what has been happening for years when you think everything has blown over. You must be on guard and protect our islands daily not just when something big happens. If the criminals knew you were out there patrolling all of the time, they wouldn't be so quick to do things illegal. This goes for any kind of criminal.

      If he was caught carrying the gun and ammunition, he was going to use it on someone for sure. Lock him up for the maximum years so this can give him time to reflect on his life. Was it worth it? The police just stopped another intended murder by catching him.

    hmm. still cant wrap my head around the fact that some are getting arrested and remanded for carrying a firearm (which is good). while others (a specific young lady) are getting bail and still walking around with a gun and threatening peoples lives, trying to put fear in their heart and looking stupid. however great job officers but please hurry and get that girl off the streets before she play with the wrong person and get what she looking for.

    How does the police carry guns that are legal? Who legal them by the way? Why everyone else who is not working for the same slave masters police which was created to control the slaves back then and still today guns are illegal?
