Will Emancipation ever mean our freedom?

Is it a Parade or just a Charade?
Year after year we claim and expect things to be different – to be better... However, except for the
shuffling around of events and minor cosmetics they never seem to be... Real factors like a late starting
of the Parade, a lesser respect for local talent and having to pay to enter the Emancipation/Freedom
Village have still remained points of contention... Nonetheless the Day will come, the beat goes on.

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The Virgin Islands Emancipation Exhibition officially opened on Monday, August 12, 2024, at Sir Olva Georges Plaza in Road Town.

As we look around our beloved Caribbean region, we see many things that have changed due to Covid 19. Less tourists, less work, hotels closed, all leading to mass unemployment, as never seen before in recent times.
Can too much ‘freedom’ hurt?

The whole length and breadth of the Caribbean is in a celebration mode; and it is all about freedom…Freedom, or emancipation from chattel slavery which ended the dreaded plantation-slave existence of the majority of the people who populated this region.
