2 men arrested on drug & firearm charges

FREE BOTTOM, Tortola, VI- Two men were arrested and subsequently charged with drug and firearm offences following a patrol by members of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF).

According to a police press release, on Thursday, April 16, 2026, officers on patrol in the Free Bottom area conducted a stop and check, which led to the recovery of a Glock pistol, a quantity of cannabis, and 13 rounds of .45 calibre ammunition.

Dalfree Rodriguez De La Rosa, aged 22, of Hannahs Estate, Tortola, and John Harvey, aged 33, of Purcell Estate, Tortola were arrested. The firearm has since been identified as a prohibited weapon, having been modified for fully automatic fire.

Charges 

Dalfree Rodriguez De La Rosa has been charged with Possession of a Controlled Drug with Intent to Supply, Possession of Explosives, and Possession of a Prohibited Firearm. John Harvey has been charged with Possession of a Controlled Drug with Intent to Supply.

Acting Commissioner Kenrick I. Davis extended heartfelt congratulations to the officers involved for their outstanding work in this instance and over the past several months, on behalf of the senior command team. 

He noted their continued professionalism, teamwork, and commitment to duty, which have significantly contributed to the safety and security of our community.

25% reduction in crime 

Meanwhile, the Senior Command Team also placed on record a general note of thanks to all the men and women of the RVIPF for the great work achieved so far in 2026, which has underpinned an aggregate 25 per cent reduction across all crime categories. They commended the men and women of the Force for their continued bravery and commitment to duty.

"Every firearm recovered, and each round of ammunition taken off our streets directly translates to improved safety and security for the public…Your hard work and dedication are acknowledged and commended. Please continue to uphold these standards of excellence in the execution of your duties,” Acting Commissioner Davis said. 

The RVIPF also thanked the community for their continued support in our crime detection, prevention and reduction efforts. The RVIPF reaffirms its commitment to proactive policing and public safety.
