‘Help us pray for Mincie & Fossi’ – Relative
Yesterday February 4, 2015 a close relative of Mr Mincainton Laurent, one of two who were recorded as critical following the January 24, 2015 boat accident off Virgin Gorda that resulted in the death of two persons, appealed for the continued support of the praying community for him and colleague Steve Fossi.
“We know a lot of people have been praying for Mincie, we know they have been praying for Fossie too but they both still have a long way to go to recovery and we are asking that the public continue to lift them up in prayers,” said a relative of Mr Laurent.
The woman said that she was happy to inform that Laurent has since regained consciousness and based on information she was able to secure, Fossi is also on the road to recovery. “I can speak for Laurent directly because he is my relative, he has regained consciousness, he is talking a bit but he is still in a very serious condition in the Intensive Care Unit at the Peebles hospital. He has to undergo surgeries and those would take quite some time based on the information we have been told so far by the hospital,” she said.
The accident, which occurred in the waters off Virgin Gorda enroute to Oil Nut Bay Resort, claimed the lives of Mr Howard Anderson and Ms Kari Ann Way, while Laurent and Fossi were critically injured and were unresponsive for days in Peebles Hospital.
Chairman of the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) Honourable Julian Fraser RA (R3) said in a message: “The Territory was saddened to learn of the tragic accident occurring off the shores of Virgin Gorda in the dawn of morning (January 24, 2015). The loss of lives and the anxiety of families awaiting the fate of their loved ones is an experience that is personal to those involved.
I have taken to extend my deepest sympathies to the proprietor of Oil Nut Bay, with the assurance that my prayers and support are with them as they seek better understanding of this tragedy.
As Chairman of the Virgin Islands Party and on behalf of my family, I extend condolences to the families of the deceased. Best wishes for speedy recovery are also extended to those suffering injuries and are currently hospitalised. May GOD’s grace and mercy attend you.”
