The big boat race that never was! Pipe vs Tattoo
Last week there was a test race in which Alvin Hodge's 'Tempo', a go fast power boat, easily beat Loring George's boat, unofficially named Ram Cat. Both boats are Nor-Techs.
The talk of this week, apart from Virgin Islands News Online being down, which led to almost a news blackout, was the big race that was to take place today May 14, 2017 between Loring George aka Pipe and Alvin Hodge aka Tattoo.
Many people even had money wagers this week on the race today as the excitement is also building for the annual 2017 Leverick Bay Poker Run on Virgin Gorda and even the big one in St Maarten in July.
Well, many boaters, amateur camera crew, ‘paparazzi’, onlookers, boats from as far as the United States Virgin Islands and just sports enthusiasts, filled the sea lanes on boats of all types and sizes in the area of Beef Island, the shores of Tortola, while some even found themselves on top of house roofs, to get a glimpse of the big race.
The scheduled race was from along the shore of Tortola, close to Guana Island, heading in front of Long Bay, Beef Island and end at Marina Cay.
Spectators had also positioned themselves on top of vehicles along Hawks Nest Road and Little Mountain to witness the showdown.
And they are off!
It was after 4:00PM today May 14, 2017 that the two boats took off in high speed but couple minutes into the race it was almost over as it was another easy blow out win for Tattoo with his boat named Tempo.
It appears that Pipe's boat was not in tip top shape for the race and seemed to suffer some adjustment issues that disappointed many, as it was the favourite to win.
Many boat racing fans regard this as the race that never was, as many boaters and sports fans were not so excited and hyped in a long time since the days of the legendary race horse Actspectation.

Sammy will never play with Tattoo @$$ buh he drag racing boats that equipped to do 150s. Pipe play with that man twice. Buy a fast boat and yo drag racing. Fly out the hole and the race done there. Punk play. He calling out Sammy he better go invest. Sammy will show him how a real race suppose to go. If your boat can do 150 show us then. Why do barely over 100 drag racing. The man tell you his boat was sick the first time but he still agreed to race. He sort out and call you back for a rematch ain do nothing special to his boat. You bring in all kinda specialist and still come back with your drag race nonsense. A drag race is a drag race and has to be setup for such. And you line up for but then change your mind about the second race the man ask you for because it was a lil longer. You know Pipe couldn't get out the hole leave you with the props but would blow pass your @$$ hard after . So you done the race before it even start. Big brains. We on the road to the Prison yes we saw this man trying to get you to start Josiah's Bay but you keep circling. We still want to see your 150 tattoo isn't that what you said you do. The man ain even push he boat yet push on you bcz that 1st race didn't make sense. You know he was coming to embarass you on the second one so you pull out. All the real boat man them say you should be ashamed. Don't worry Sammy ain fraid he coming but ain gon be no drag race. From VG down to the beach let the people see you get your licks FAIR and square. We ain't no punks running no f8888t race! Go BRAG about that!
Virgin Gorda brace yourself. I want Big Pimping real bad, if we settle before Poker Run is even better.
How you go'in set up your boat for a drag race without telling Pipe that ?
You want a drag race then tell Pipe so he could set up for a drag race as well.
You bring in some white boys to set up your boat for a drag race and ain't tell Pipe nothing ?

if you buy a boat just because you have money doesn't make you the fastest pipe boat is longer what makes it handle waves better and I don't know how much he invested on parts or preparing his boat for racing but a stock boat is a stock boat, it is fast but you cant go against someone who invested in his boat to do tops at shorter distance you can hear the difference on tattos acceleration torque, in open waters with his acceleration he would would still be faster but race are not made to go around the world to see who is faster pipe boat is not faster and wouldn't never be faster unless he upgrades it could be long or short.. and big pimping is a skater 36' as tattoo's boat and he has less torque acceleration than tattoo aslo and big pimping is not doing 165mph for a fact so research before talkin,, losers always has excuses no matter what.. you race once an lost you coming back to the same race and you asking for longer distance that's stupid.. don't race and embarrass your self. tempo racing has the fastest cat in the bvi until proving wrong JUNE 11TH NEXT SHOW DOWN
