PARAQUITA BAY, Tortola, VI - Juliane Potgieter clocked 14 minutes 05.43 seconds to cross the finish line first for ladies in Race 3 of the HLSCC/Highland Spring Race Series on Tortola to claim the overall title on October 26, 2013.

Potgieter has won all three of her races so far and with only one more to go, she cannot be surpassed as the overall women's champion.

Meanwhile, Team Cedar Secondary and the longest consecutive winning service club- Team Rotary of Tortola have secured the overall wins in their respective divisions.

Counting three out of four races, the men's overall winner will have to be decided at race #4 as defending Champion, Khiry Creque (leader after two races) was unable to compete this past weekend. Guy Williamson on the other hand leading the way in race #3 in a time of 11 minutes 33.12 now has two second places and a win and the needed three runs under his belt.

Williamson, Tarique Moses and Reuben Stoby made up the early breakaway bunch and remained together until on the home straight where Williamson (11:33.12) proved to have the better kick over Moses (11:35.00) and Stoby (11:43.11).

Potgieter won the women's race in 13:65.43. Second was Kelsha Fortune in 15:09.33 and third Anna Kinkead in 15:36.28.

Many of the other divisions are undecided including the One Mile event. Race #2 winner Johari Lacey, after an unfortunate fall at the start, was still able to recover and cross the line third behind Sam Potgieter and M’Khori Crabbe.

Meanwhile A’Keela McMaster took another first with Jahtivya Willams placing second. It will be a battle for the win amongst these three males and two females in the final race.

Derek Pettigrew, who continues as the lead runner for the entire cross country division along with Team Cedar Primary, took the first in race #3 as the leader Althea Scatliffe Primary Team-2 did not field a full team. While Althea Scatliffe Primary Team-2 has the upperhand, the overall position in this division could be up for grabs. Similarly race #4 will decide it all in the Community Partners division as each week the lead has changed hands.

The final HLSCC Highland Spring Race on Tortola is scheduled in three weeks on November 16, 2013. This leg of the series will conclude with the awards ceremony. The college continues to thank all who come out and participate in the races and a special thanks for this weekend’s added support to the BVI Cancer Society and the BVI Olympic Committee.
