ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- It may have been her Investiture Ceremony for being honoured with the Order of the British Empire (OBE), but Mrs Eileene L. Parsons was not too proud to use the occasion to make an impassioned plea to Premier Dr The Honourable D. Orlando Smith to help the Heritage Dancers get their building "off the ground".

Mrs Parsons had just received a donation from some members of her Charlotte Amalie High School’s Class of 1949 during the ceremony at Government House on September 20, 2013 when she openly made the call for help to the Premier who was actually sitting on her immediate right.

Thanking the presenter of the donation Mrs Alda Montsanto and the class of 49, Mrs Parsons said the donation was going to be used to help the Heritage Dancers “hopefully to compete our building there by the Althea Scatliffe school, so it is no longer an eye sore in this community."

Turning to Premier Smith, Mrs Parsons said, "I am throwing that out so that my beloved Premier on my right can take it up as Minister of Finance and finally, finally help us get that building off the ground."

Earlier, Mrs Montsanto said herself and the others of the Class of 49 who made the journey for the Investiture Ceremony, were glad to be part of the occasion.

“I hope you would agree that the years you spent with us was the best of times. We knew that this was going to happen. We knew that someday you would fulfill the promise of the Chicken Hawks- to excel always. You have excelled, you have been a good and faithful servant to your people, to all of us,” Mrs Montsanto stated.

Mrs Parsons, OBE is credited for forming the BVI Heritage Dancers that has now achieved the status of ambassador of the Virgin Islands.

The BVI Community Singers is also a brainchild of Mrs Parsons.

The Heritage Dancers should raise funds then finish the building themselves.

TO PROMOTE AND SUSTAIN OUR CULTURE WE HAVE TO EDUCATE OUR PEOPLE AND THIS IS A FORM OF EDUCATING OUR PEOPLE THRU DANCE ETC. AND HAVING A PLACE IS ONE OF THE WAYS OF DOING THINGS. THIS SAME STRUCTURE CAN THEN BE USED FOR MANY OTHER THINGS: FUND RAISING, CLASES FOR YOUNG AND ADULTS, YOU NAME IT. PEOPLE STOP CREATING STRIFE AND HELP EACH OTHER TO HELP OUR SELVES

How about they fix the Cultural Centre. Then they can use the facilities for practice and events. All other events that should be held in the Cultural Centre can be held there and the Multi Purpose Sports Complex can finally be used for various SPORTS.

I suppose she is making her second pitch for DAME. That building should not have been placed there in the first instance. It will only serve to compromise the type of structure that would be best suited for that area. It needs to be removed from there. Some people are soo caustic that you dear not chalange them.
