EAST END, Tortola, VI- A man has been taken into police custody after allegedly assaulting a security guard who refused him entry into a Tortola store since he did not have on a proper mask.

According to reports reaching our newsroom, the incident occurred at the Rite Breeze Supermarket on Wednesday, October 21, 2020.

The man had allegedly attempted to enter the store with a paper towel held to his nose and mouth; however, the security guard advised him that the covering was not acceptable.

The man reportedly left the premises but later returned with a proper mask on and was allowed in; however, he aggressively pushed the guard, who slammed into a door.

The guard reportedly had to seek medical attention as he was left in severe pain.

Incident caught on CCTV

Our newsroom was informed that CCTV footage confirmed the incident.

The irate customer was arrested for a report of Common Assault.

It was only on October 18, 2020, that a security guard at a nightclub in Long Bush received injuries to one of his hands after he was reportedly attacked by a man wielding a machete.

The man had reportedly attempted to enter the nightclub without a mask but was told one was needed for entry.

Man you would have been better off putting two coffee filter together with the same paper towel towel as the filter and two rubber bands for the ear support. You can wear it for 3 hours. IT IS CALL YOUR EMERGENCY BACK UP MASK. THE SECURITY GUARD WAS ONLY DOING HIS JOB AND THAT WAS JUST PLAIN OUT IGNORANCE AND STUPIDITY.

The pressures that Covid-19 brought on us is no the root cause of this continuing unlawful asualt against security officers. We must look deeper that we generally are looking. Be my audience. All violence actions taken against the lawful riights of you, others, and mine to hinder us, is in fact a manifestation of evil ordered by the the chief of disorder (Satan) to all those willing to obeyed. Violent behavious against against law abiding citizens are not new, and will become intence in the future. I can recall, in the fifties and sixties, been a child (male) the pop gun was one of our favorite toy. Nowaday, youths particular, are daily exposed to, and the regularly play many voilence games. Accept this truth, violence (Satan) is in them. what from them manifested on the outside, is proven evidence of who is in them. Accept this other truth. Adults are more responsible than they are. We all can, and need to work more harder to help curb crime, Whoever, he that done this distespectful acted, should be held lawfully accountable for it, and pay the price.

Going into a place of business holding a piece of paper towel to your nose and mouth, when you pick up your item or go to pay, how are you going to hold the paper towel over your mouth and nose. He needs to be punished for being so damn ignorant and stupid at the same time. Why take it out on the Security for doing his job. I’m telling you a lot of you better be glad you all live in Tortola because anywhere outside Tortola, you put your hands on a Security Guard, they will break you up with straight up blows.

I often wonder why persons keep buying into the island people this that rhetoric. ignore!..re: the story, what is wrong with with these ignorant fools.. I would never advocate violence but something need to be done in deterring theses fools that don’t want to adhere to the rules.. someone said it how can he shop holding a paper towel to his face.. some persons are just tooooo ignorant.. I say STIFF penalties for anyone that does this as a deterrent.. the devil is in them.. seriously what is so hard in following the rules to keep others safe .. they are reckless, evil, willful and stupid.. maybe the government could find a way to give out a few masks to the people.. but as far as I know persons are selling cloths masks that can be worn and wash for re-use..
