ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – After initially accepting the role of Parade Marshal for the August Monday Parade, Violet ‘Letty’ Delville-Hodge has since opted out.

This information was confirmed to Virgin Islands News Online by Delville-Hodge, who did not want to go into details as to why she decided to pull out.

“Yes that is true, that is all,” Delville-Dodge, the Virgin Islands most successful horse owner, stated this afternoon, July 28, 2016.

Earlier, the Virgin Islands Festival and Fairs Committee issued a press release which stated that members of the Virgin Islands Festival and Fairs Committee were today informed by Delville-Hodge that she unfortunately would not be able to carry out her duties as the 2016 Parade Grand Marshal.

It said Mrs Delville-Hodge was nominated by the Parade Sub-Committee and approved by the Executive Committee for this year’s Grand Marshal and that she was recommended based on her significant contributions to the success of the parade over the years. It further said Mrs Hodge’s colourful and vibrant troupes as well as floats and other entries were always major highlights of the August Monday Parade.

“When we met today to discuss her duties as this year’s Grand Marshall, Hodge indicated that although extremely honoured to be selected in that capacity, she wishes to decline the opportunity to perform these duties due to personal reasons.”

The Committee said it wishes to extend its gratitude to Mrs Hodge for her contributions to the parade over the years and wishes her well.

It is not clear whether a new Parade Marshall has been identified as yet.

Our Festival is now officially a "pappyshow". So much drama concerning something as simple as a festival celebration. I just don't understand. So dissapointing.

All things considered, Letty should have gracefully refused the appointment to begin with. Going forward, she should do well to remember this day. On the other hand, it was not protocol for Hon Fraser to speak but same minister saw it fit to appoint Hodge. smh.

Only reason they don't put Funny Man in jail is because he would like it too much. What's the saying, "He'd be happier than a sissy with a bag of ...."

Everything Moron do is wrong. He thinks he has arrogance but it's really ignorance. He's the worst Minister of All Time. Funny Man should be in jail.
