Kevin S. Fahie In! as Caribbean Cellars new General Manager
Hon Smith: Locals not ready yet!
Premier and Leader of Government Business Dr The Hon D. Orlando Smith (AL) had also joined in the insult of Virgin Islanders by saying they are “not qualified” when asked about why so many United Kingdom nationals are taking so much top positions in the public sector that locals could fill.
In fact, Premier Smith went on to say “I am concerned yes, that we are not at the point where we have the capacity to fill all these positions……”
When pressed, he told the local media, “In the VI, what we have been speaking about for a long time is succession planning and that is a process to ensure that, as time goes by, VIslanders will be more prepared to fill these positions where they are not now prepared,” added Premier Smith.
However, locals continue to fill top posts all over the Territory despite the negative talk and lack of confidence in locals from Hons Smith and Walwyn.
