I am still your representative – Hon. O’Neal

VALLEY, Virgin Gorda, VI – Hon. Ralph T O’Neal, OBE, 9th District Representative and leader of the Opposition is aware of the talk by some that there is no representation in the district, but made it clear that he has the best intention for the residents of Virgin Gorda and Anegada.

Hon. O’Neal made the statement yesterday afternoon, July 5, 2012 while delivering congratulatory remarks at the Bregado Flax Educational Centre Secondary Division graduation that was held at the Catholic Community Centre.

“As the representative for the 9th district, even though some people feel that Virgin Gorda have no representative any longer, I pledged to continue to work for the commitment of this island and Territory and do everything in my power to represent you,” he stated.

Hon. O’Neal told the packed centre that his motto has been a fair share and fair deal for all and that is how it will be “as long as I possibly can.”

Following the November 7, 2011 general elections, early counts had shown the incumbent representative trailing his challenger, Dr. Hubert O'Neal, but he eventually overhauled the challenger to retain the seat which he has held since 1971.

He received 565 votes and edged out Dr. O’Neal by 28.

While I will be the first to say Mr. O’Neal must be respected just like we respect Myron and Archie win who should not be there in the first place because they are not qualified, truth be told Ralph just aint able and should consider steeping aside. BAM

Archie ran for elections two or three times before, why wasn't it an issue then? The Constitution states that those that were qualified before 2007 are still qualified which include Myron, Archie and Mark. Is Juggy qualified to contest elections? Where was Juggy born? Isn't he, Mark and Archie in the same situation? lol ignorance ignorance.

Schups! Anywhere else he would've been pelted with rotten tomatoes for such a stupid statement. Anegada and VG had the Chief Minister/Premier as their rep for about 20yrs and look at them?

I really wonder what type of leader you are? You know that you are unfit to lead this country but continue to hold on to power because of money. You don't have us at heart Mr. Oneal. Since election which was in November 2011, you have not come and report to us as yet. You are just a let down to the people of the 9th, district. You are unable to walk and check anything for us. If you really have this country best at heart you would have someone to come and check things for you. Money is your interest, but none of us is going to carry it with us. You know that your time for polictics is over but you are in denial and continue to hurt the people of the nineth district with your bad policies. Please step aside to allow this country to prosper as it should. I don't care what no-one else comment, I am a Virgin Gordian who loves this country to the bone and is saddened to see how a leader has brought his country into disgrace. Please step down from leader of the opposition as well. You are hurting the party.

What u call 'modernize', u blind one, VG as i'm from there too is on the rocks. Thanks to the 'whiteman' or else we would all die there and not be missed. Visar for one, and Rockefellar and Yates for the rest of the 'modernizin', so what other good role he played than selling us and the land out!!!! FYI If it was up to Uncle it woulda neva have a dreadlocks person in here!!!!!

Sad that you don't even know your history. Ralph did not modernize the BVI it was H. Lavity Stout. Read more and pay attention to your historical data. Don't crown Ralph for something he did not do. He helped along the way as did many others but H. Lavity Stout was the chief architect. Don't forget that he too was in fierce opposition to H. Lavity Stout back in the day.

Well said!! You have done the country great over the years but you have hurt us as well, it is more good than bad though. In the last few years you have hurt us as a country greatly, if you continue on this part your will soon erase the good out of all our memories. You need to now enjoy the monies you have made of the years while you can. I know if I was at your age and in your financial postion, I wasn't getting up to harrass myself with nothing. I would be sailing, camping, being driven around any enjoy the BVI while I can.

Mr.Ralph my comment is not one to discredit you, it was one to help you. "Breaking New" said it best. If you care about your family and your country enjoy your life and let someone with the strength carry on both in your party and in the district. It is not about NDP or VIP, you have done your share now its time to pass the mantle. Let your life end on a good note with the people.

Virgin Gorda is very much behind the time, i dont see no modernizatrion them jokers talking bout. he help himself and friends and ... the enitre island while smiling with the people. I dont know how he can sleep at night. I kno him well and i know him personally. Virgin Gorda would have been better off without him.

I had feel that the VG people didn't like Ralph when them vote him back in, because anybody could see he wasn't and isn't able.
