Fire fighters tackle bush fire @ Beef Island

BEEF ISLAND, VI - A bush fire which had every potential of growing to a very challenging and damaging stage was quickly tackled by the BVI Fire and Rescue Services at approximately 2:30pm today June 1, 2015.

The service responded to a call by a public spirited person and arriving on the scene shortly after the fire truck, this news site saw what had the potential of becoming a major bush fire at Beef Island.

Several civilians were in the area when the fire fighters reached the scene as they kept watch.

The firemen quickly went into action amidst the thick blanket of smoke, beating out flames where they could before resorting to dowsing the stretch already burnt out.

The cause of the fire is unclear.
