UPDATE - Freeman makes clean sweep to take 2017 Calypso Crown

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – One of his calypsos, ‘Respect the Doctor’ was one that created a stir throughout the Virgin Islands (VI) as it hit social media and the airways. Despite many speculated that he was at least the voice behind the lyrics, Eustace "Boss" Freeman never claimed ownership of the Calypso until last night August 2, 2017 as Contestant Number Three at the Festival Calypso Monarch held at the Neil "Mr Melee" Blyden Festiville.

Sistah Joyce out of calypso show; Snubbed as guest artiste

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - 4-time Calypso Queen Joycelyn Searles aka Sistah Joyce will surprisingly not defend her title at this year's Calypso Competition held as part of Virgin Islands Emancipation Festival. Now the artiste is upset that she has been snubbed as a guest performer for the show on August 2, 2017.

Vieira aka Chico B, calling for unity among the expatriates and the natives, has opened a can of proverbial worms, with a veteran Calypsonian, calling him a Monarch by default.

SPANISH TOWN, Virgin Gorda, VI - First time entrant Roland O. Vieira aka Chico B won the 2016 Virgin Gorda Easter Festival Calypso competition at the Franka A. Pickering Festiville in Spanish Town, Virgin Gorda on March 27, 2016 with his songs Thanks BVI and Rum Pipe after garnering a total 534 points.

Luther Butler, earlier today July 29, 2012, defeated all comers in what was a resounding sweep of the available prizes to emerge trumps once again, retaining his crown for a third consecutive year which he described as his most difficult victory.

Boss: Local artists treated unfairly by VI Festival & Fairs

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The Great VI Music Alliance, a group formed specifically to aid local entertainers in gaining respect and appreciation from the Virgin Islands, met with the VI Festivals and Fairs Executive Committee where they raised several issues over the unfair treatment that local performers receive in relation to their performance and pay for festivals over the years.
