Gov Jaspert not ruling ‘in or out’ use of reserved powers
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – After former Governor John S. Duncan OBE created controversy when he invoked his constitutional power to take money from the Consolidated Fund and giving to the police and other departments, virtually stripping the Minister of Finance of his authority to determine where and how monies are spent, the question on the minds of many is whether new Governor Augustus J. U. Jaspert was also prepared to do so if he sees fit.

Radio caller wants new constitution; No power for Governor
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Making his disappointment known for the recent decision by His Excellency the Governor John S. Duncan OBE to evoke section 103 (b) which gave him the power to withdraw money from the consolidated fund or other public funds, at least one caller is suggesting a constitutional change, one that leaves the Governor powerless.
