Prevention the best option against polio – Dr Stephen Patrick
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Nigerian doctor working in the Virgin Islands Dr Stephen Patrick said that the emphasis must remain on prevention of polio rather than treating persons after the fact as even if they survive the viral disease, there is still an impact on their lives as changes to their appearance can lead to a life of stigma and discrimination.

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- As a result of steadfast efforts against polio over the past 15 years, Nigeria is to the point where it has been declared polio free, leaving just two countries, Pakistan and Afghanistan on the list of places where the disease is still present.
