UPDATE: At least 20 dead in Dominica due to Tropical Storm Erika

ROSEAU, Dominica (AP) — Rescue crews jumped off boats and trudged Saturday through mud, rocks and uprooted trees to reach communities cut off by a tropical storm that killed at least 20 people and left nearly 50 missing in the eastern Caribbean island of Dominica.

Inez Archibald, CBE in consultation with the Director of the National Emergency Operations Centre, Ms Sharleen S. DaBreo is satisfied that the immediate threat posed by Tropical Storm Erika to the territory is over.

Tropical storm Erika nearing the Virgin Islands

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- At 5:00 p.m., August 27, 2015, the centre of Tropical Storm Erika was estimated near latitude 16.6 degrees north, longitude 64 degrees west or about 117 miles east-southeast of the Virgin Islands (VI).
