Cabinet approves $1.3M for immigration detention costs via Supplemental Appropriations
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The Cabinet of the Virgin Islands met on February 9, 2022, and among other things decided that the funding for associated costs for temporary lodging, security services and meals for immigration detainees be provided via Supplementary Appropriations.

Cruising Permit Fee in VI waived for locals & belongers
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The Premier Andrew A. Fahie-led Government of the Virgin Islands has made a conscious move to waive the cruising permit fee only for locals/belongers, with immediate effect.
VISA, taxes, Work Permit fees waived under Work in Paradise Programme
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- As a means of attracting persons to take advantage of the Work in Paradise Programme (WIPP), the Government of the Virgin Islands will be waiving a number of taxes and fees as well as VISA for persons qualifying for the programme.
Canadian journalist didn't have work permit – Premier Smith
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Premier and Minister of Finance Dr The Honourable D. Orlando Smith said there is a requirement for a work permit for journalists visiting the territory on assignment and the Canadian journalist from The Star had not fulfilled this and hence was turned away.
