13 years later, Millions spent on ASSI, still no Civil Aviation Dept for VI
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- After some 13 years (2004) since the ruling National Democratic Party (NDP) killed the government Civil Aviation Department and allowed the British based Air Safety Support International (ASSI) to be the Virgin Islands Regulator of the civil aviation industry, there is little hope of the Government Department returning.

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- After 12 years and counting the Virgin Islands still does not have a Civil Aviation Department and the functions of the department are being carried out by the United Kingdom based Air Safety Support International (ASSI).
After 11 years still no Civil Aviation Department restored in the VI!
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- It was in 2004 under a National Democratic Party (NDP) Administration [2003-2007], some 11 years ago, that the Virgin Islands lost its Civil Aviation Department and some say went backwards to the colonial days.
Aircraft runs off airstrip at Anegada
