De Castro has in an opinion column today August 20, 2014 broadsided the Government and the Virgin Islands Festival and Fairs Committee for Festival being what he described as nothing more than a big party designed to make money at the expense of the Territory’s culture and history.

UPDATE: Fights at Festival no big deal this year – Marvin 'MB' Blyden

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Chairman of the Virgin Islands Festivals and Fairs Committee Mr Marvin ‘MB’ Blyden isn’t too concerned about the “few” fights that took place during the 2013 Virgin Islands Emancipation Festival celebrations, especially at the Ira Oliver Skelton Festiville in Road Town, since there were no reports of serious injuries.

Iwer George took ill en route to VI, Committee refunded- VIF&FC

UPDATE: VIF&FC PRO Lynette L. Harrigan not yet in receipt of appointment letter

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- It has been over a month ago that Virgin Islands News Online reported that confirmed sources had indicated that Ms Lynette L. Harrigan was asked to take up the post as Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the Virgin Islands Festival and Fairs Committee (VIF&FC). However, to-date she has not been issued an official letter confirming her appointment.

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Mr Rhodni Skelton has reportedly held true to his promise that he would resign as Public Relations Officer of the Virgin Islands Festival and Fairs Committee (VIF&FC) if current Chairman Mr Marvin Blyden did not alter scathing reports about him in the VIF&FC’s annual report for 2012.

UPDATE: Blyden stands by VIF&F report; no resignation by Skelton

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Despite a threat by Public Relations Officer of the Virgin Islands Festival and Fairs (VIF&F) Committee Rhodni Skelton to resign if its Chairman Marvin Blyden did not retract portions of what was stated about him in a report laid in the House of Assembly recently, Blyden has stated he is standing by his report.
