FREDERIKSTED, St Croix, USVI — Police on Thursday January 26, 2017 arrested a man they say is responsible for brutally beating then raping his ex-girlfriend, [US] Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD) Public Information Officer Glen Dratte confirmed to The Consortium Saturday January 28, 2017.

According to Mr Dratte, at about 9:30 P.M. on Tuesday, the victim told police that she was in her yard when her ex-boyfriend José Miguel Crispin, also known as “Cocaine”, was outside her fence. The victim said she told Mr Crispin to leave, but instead of leaving her yard, Mr Crispin jumped over the fence, dragged the victim by her shirt and took her to an unknown address in Old Fredensborg.

Mr Crispin then locked the victim inside his home, struck her with a piece of wood to the side of her upper right arm, punched her several times in her chest, forcibly took off her underwear and proceeded to have sex with her for about ten minutes without her permission, according to Mr Dratte.

No bail was set for Mr Crispin in accordance with the territory’s domestic violence laws, and he was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advise-of-rights hearing.

The force is asking anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of crime perpetrators, to call the V.I.P.D. at (340)774-2211, or the Criminal Investigation Bureau at (340)778-2211, (340)714-9805, or (340)714-9800.
