KINGSTON, Tortola, VI – Cedar International School has partnered with Tortola Auto Group and Nagico Insurances for the launch of its second annual Grand Raffle to raise funds for the school’s Scholarship Fund meant to increase access to families who are less able to afford the school’s tuition fees.

The launching took place at the school’s campus at Kingston on the main island of Tortola in the presence of officials and students of the school and officials of Tortola Auto Group (TAG).

The scholarship enables students to gain a world class International Baccalaureate education in the territory regardless of their ability to pay.

The school, with the support of TAG, the official Hyundai dealer in the territory, is raffling a brand new 2016 fully loaded Hyundai Tucson. The cost of a raffle ticket is $50 dollars and the drawing date will be announced when all of the 1,000 tickets printed would have been sold.

“We are encouraged to support this initiative that gives wider access to students in the BVI to the IB education offered by Cedar. Although new to the market, TAG recognises the need to build the community and one of the ways to do so is through education,” said Gordon U. French, Senior Sales and Marketing Executive at TAG.

He expressed his happiness that Cedar International School has selected the all-new 2016 Hyundai Tucson from one of the fastest growing automotive brands in the world.

“The winner will drive in comfort knowing that the all new Tucson is backed by Hyundai’s exclusive five-year factory warranty and TAG’s modern service facilities. I encourage the community to support this initiative,” said French.

Speaking at the event, Managing Director of Nagico Insurances Shan Mohamed said, “We are always looking to foster and encourage the educational development of the BVI youth. Nagico has supported the BVI Scholarship Fund for the past few years as a corporate donor and this partnership seemed a natural progression and a way to further show our support.”

Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Cedar International School Mark J. Forte said the importance of the raffle is that it gives them the opportunity to keep funding a scholarship that it crucial for continuing education in the territory.

“That is about $550,000 a year that we put into scholarship programmes to assist the children of the BVI of all backgrounds and from all walks of life. We are very proud of that and we want to build on that and increase that and partnership with the community is the way in which we do that,” he said.

Raffle tickets are available from Cedar International School, TAG, Nagico and Captain Mulligans.

The sales from the 1000 tickets is 50,000.00. That vehicle cost about 25,000.00 or less. The other 25,000.00 or more would go towards scholarship
