Ceasar killers were looking for another man- Court hears
Despite Norford blurting out at his first appearance before Magistrate Ayanna O. Baptiste-DaBreo, “From being in prison, I still murder somebody?”Scatliffe-Esprit said Norford was among the prison escapees in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Irma which hit the Virgin Islands on September 6, 2017.
‘Cash for gold’ businessman was shot in head
Allegations are that on September 10, 2017, the 'Cash for Gold' businessman received a visit from a man to conduct a business deal when they were later approached by three armed men, one with a machete and the two others, including the accused, with guns.
The man who was conducting business with Ceasar fled when the armed assailants entered the residence, and Ceasar was shot in his head by the accused man and the second firearm wielding man fired a second shot about his body before leaving.
The three men left in the vehicle of the same man who came under the ruse to perform business with Ceasar earlier.
Two suspects at large
Before the incident; however, unnamed eyewitnesses said they saw the same men in the vehicle stop at another residence in the area, and they appeared to be looking for someone.
When they were unsuccessful in their search, it was then that they headed to the direction of the deceased residence.
The men were again spotted, leaving the scene shortly after the crime was committed.
The late businessman succumbed to brain damage and compression from the gunshot wound a few days later at the Dr D Orlando Smith Hospital in Road Town, Tortola.
After their investigations into the murder, police arrested and charged Norford with the offence.
The names of the other suspects were not disclosed in court as investigations are still ongoing.
No Bail
Even before the issue of bail arose, the magistrate informed the accused man that he would be remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison because the Magistrate’s Court was unable to grant bail in these types of matters.
In response, Scatliffe-Esprit said the prosecution would be objecting to bail if it arose at the High Court.
The murder accused did not enter a plea because the matter is indictable.
The unrepresented man is scheduled to return to court on March 26, 2020.
Norford is also on remand as a murder suspect in the 2013 murder of Melbourne Francis, who was killed at The Stickett in Long Look.

Ed.... murdered the one in Scatliffe Alley, a street man told the police that he saw ya*** shot parker, but yet the police did nothing, because they labelled him as being mentally ill. He and an unknown individual are responsible for the two at josiah's, eversince they got locked up the murder rates has decreased.
