CBC’s ‘Road to Road Town’ well underway
Back In January 2015, the Executive Committee of the CBC decided to create a unique trophy cup for the CBC Championships which will bear the name ‘Caribbean Cup’.
CBC's Vice President of Finance and Marketing, Mr Patrick Haynes from Georgetown, Guyana, designed the trophy for the 2015 CBC Senior Championships for Men and Women.
The CBC Caribbean Cup will be presented to the Caribbean Men and Women’s Champions for the first time following the finals on June 12 for women and June 21 for men in Tortola, British Virgin Islands.
The top part of the newly created Caribbean Cup trophy has a gold plated metal cup in the form of a chalice with two handles. The base is made of a Dark Emperador Marble that measures 15.25 x 15.25 cm and sits on a 3-tier Oak mantle that measures 38 x 38 cm.
FIBA, CBC and the Championship logos and the name Caribbean Cup are engraved on the front of the trophy. The top of the cup has a circumference of 80 cm and the trophy stands 82 cm in height and weighs a grand 11.5 k.
Newly designed medals
The newly designed CBC Championship medals have arrived also. The newly adopted medal design was created Mr Haynes. The new CBC medals will be the Olympic style format with the CBC logo in the centre and the text ‘XXIII CBC CHAMPIONSHIP FOR MEN’ at the top and the host country and year at the bottom ‘TORTOLA 2015’. The medals are 76.2 mm in diameter and 4.0 mm in thickness.
Gold, Silver and Bronze medals will be awarded to the top three (3) teams in the men and women’s championships. One (1) set of Gold, Silver and Bronze medals will be given to FIBA and another set is given to the Pedro Ferrandiz Foundation.
Women’s CBC action kicks off on June 8 at the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex with Antigua against St Vincent and the Grenadines. The VI Women, competing for the first time, have all their matches scheduled for 9pm and begin the tournament with a match against Guyana.
The Men also play at 9pm for each group match and begin by facing St Vincent and the Grenadines. That match is then followed by games against Cayman Islands, Barbados and the USVI.
The Women’s Classification rounds are on June 11 and 12 and the Men’s on June 20 and 21.

Tell me, how does any of this benefit us. The government supplements both these events because they don't make any money due to low interest and yet, we tax payers are forced to indirectly support something that we don't believe in or don['t see the benefit.
